Submitted by Lauren H., high school rising junior. We spent a wonderful day on the campus of Menlo College in Atherton, California! The perfect weather made the college visit extremely enjoyable. We had an appointment scheduled with the Director of Admissions, Ken Bowman, who spoke to us about all of the wonderful things Menlo has to offer. He then gave us a private tour of the campus, and showed us all of the beautiful facilities, including a huge swimming pool, dining hall, and gym for athletes and non-athletes. Menlo College gave me a great impression of what it would be like as a Business major, and got me interested in life on a small campus. The student body only consists of 750 students, making the cozy school more of a tight-knit family.
The campus is very well maintained, and it is in the heart of the Silicon Valley, which is a great fit for all Business majors interested in living in such a thriving high-tech area. Ken Bowman also spoke of how Menlo College required all seniors to experience an internship before graduating. He said that half of those who participated in the summer internship program were offered jobs from their internship organizations. Such organizations included Hi-Five Sports, Plug and Play Tech Center, Google, ebay, etc. This unique internship program helped students secure their career paths after graduation. Overall, the planning of the tour, the beautiful campus, and Ken’s enthusiasm for Menlo College made our visit worth the trip!
